Trick-or-Treat, Smell My Feet!

No joke...this is what one little goblin said when Matt and I opened the door on Halloween night. The parents were standing in my front yard...the mother with a dropped jaw, the dad trying to hide a smile. It was priceless!

So Matt and I had our first "official" Halloween in our new house, and as a married couple for that fact. The first year we were married (2008), we had one...count it 1...trick-or-treater at our apartment complex. We bought tons of candy b/c we thought we'd be inundated with kids from around the complex. NOPE! We didn't account for the fact that our apartment was in the very back corner. Sad times.

In 2009, well we were in Disney World celebrating Halloween by riding the Haunted Mansion. It was great!

This year - 2010 - we knew we were going to be home, and by golly we were going to be ready for those trick-or-treaters.

Matt spent most of Sunday afternoon carving pumpkins....

He ended up carving a bat....

And a Pirate Ship....he's very proud of this one...

And of course...the evening wouldn't be complete without making our dog Lady wear a Halloween bandanna. Hey...somebody had to be dressed up :)

She was not happy with us...poor thing.

So we were ready! The trick or treaters came...constantly for about an hour and we successfully handed out candy like pros and had a blast doing it! Well that's all for Halloween 2010!

Later!

First Day Back

I used to think that the first day back to school was tough. Then I started working. I think the hardest thing to do is go back to work after having a relaxing vacation.

That's what I had to do today. Last week was fabulous!! Matt and I spent the entire week running around Knoxville and relaxing around the house. Soooo relaxing!

Today however, I had to crawl...ok, Matt basically had to push me...out of our cozy, warm bed at 6:30AM. The past week I've been leisurely waking up, watching the 8 o'clock hour of the Today Show and getting out of bed shortly after.

THEN...I had to be mentally aware of what I was doing at 7:30. Another miracle. :)

However, by the end of the day it felt good to be back and I've got to admit that I love my job....until I have to get up 6:30am and repeat the cycle :)

Goodnight!

Pancake Pantry

Our vacationing adventures took us to the Pancake Pantry in Gatlinburg which is one of my favorite restaurants...just leave the calorie counter at the door. :)

The Pancake Pantry is a vacation tradition for Matt and me. We got up around 7 this morning and headed to g-burg. On a weekday the traffic is not bad at all and there was no wait whatsoever! However, even if there was a wait...it's well worth it!

I ordered my traditional...banana pineapple triumph...which Matt introduced me to a few years ago. It's basically a little slice of heaven on a plate with whip cream on top. :)

Matt opted for the wild-berry crapes...

It's probably not the healthiest breakfast in the world...but I would definitely argue that it's the tastiest!

Vacation!

Sooo excited!! Matt and I are on vacation this week!!

Instead of going somewhere, spending money and coming home exhausted we've decided to stay home...a "stay-cation" if you will. We did this last year and it was the best week ever! This year we're going to do some small things around the house each day and spend some time running around Knoxville and exploring the city. Our list of non house related to-do's this week so far includes...

1. Pancake Pantry...a vacation staple even if it is in Gatlinburg
2. VG's Bakery...two words...cinnamon roll
3. Farmer's Market
4. mid-day Movie
5. dog-park
6. Workout daily

It's going to be a great week!

Happy Easter!

I love Easter!

When you get right down to it, it's the reason the other 51 Sunday's...and all the days...in the year have meaning.

Here we go...

I've been contemplating for a while whether or not to do this, and after much encouragement from my dear friend Marie, I decided to take the plunge and go for it. I don't really have any concrete plans for this blog at this time so I'll see where it goes. Enjoy the ride!
